Getting there and around

The nearest airport for Sorrento is Capodichino Airport (Naples). Sorrento has a strategic position which allows it to be easily reached either by car, train, bus or by sea.

By car
Travelling by car, driving along the motorway A 2 Rome-Naples for those who come from the north, or the A 16 Bari-Naples for those who come from the south, you get onto the A 3. Exiting at Castellammare of Stabia, you arrive to the SS Sorrentine 145 - that travelling alongside the sea - permits you to reach Sorrento.
The SS 145 offers an extraordinary spectacle, and as you pass by the towns of Seiano, Meta, Piano of Sorrento and Saint Agnello, you can admire on the right, the sea that gently wets the coast, the beaches and the small fisherman piers; and on the left, the white rocks that - between Seiano and Meta - capture and reflect the rays of the sun transforming them into enchanting shades.

By train
For people travelling by public transportation, there are various possibilities. If you arrive in Naples with the trains of the State railway (FS), the Central Station of Garibaldi Square is connected by underground passageways to the lines of the Circumvesuviana, which link directly Naples and Sorrento.
The trains depart every 30 minutes, and in a little more than an hour, you arrive in Sorrento.

By bus
People who arrive in Naples by plane have the possibility of using the daily bus connections, effected by the Curreri bus service. Every day, in fact, six trips are foreseen which connect Sorrento (Tasso Square) with the Capodichino Airport (Naples).
For people who want to reach Sorrento from Rome - avoiding the use of the trains - there is the possibility to take advantage of a bus which effects two daily trips and that in four hours, link directly, Rome (departure from Tiburtina station) and Sorrento (Tasso Square).

By sea
Sorrento can be easily reached also by sea, thanks to the hydrofoils that connect the Beverello Pier (Naples, opposite the Maschio Angioino) with the Harbour of Marina Piccola (small seashore) in Sorrento.
Upon arrival at the Sorrento Harbour you will find the yellow buses of the Circumvesuviana which connect the Harbour to Tasso Square in the centre of Sorrento; or if you prefer, you can have a relaxing walk that in 10 minutes, along a suggestive road with antique Roman paving and a long flight of stairs, leads you to Tasso Square.
